City Hall Watch Project

     The City Hall Watch Project is a group of interns and young people who are literally watching City Hall, attending City Council meetings, talking to community activists about their issues, researching challenges facing City officials, and even testifying on behalf of progressive policies. Voter Suppression

Voter suppression is a problem across the nation, but it happens at the local level.  As the election season approaches, EMPOWER will be looking at ways to stop voter suppression right here in San Diego.  Look for more updates in our EMPOWER Action News about these issues.

 

 

Empower Launches Civic Matters in 2010

Civic Matters is an initiative to inform and educate San Diegans about the opportunities for public participation in San Diego that will affect public policy and political representation.

Civic Matters campaign will be:

  • Work with the EMPOWERStudents! Intern Team to do 2010 Census outreach and voter registration/education on their campuses in preparation for the June 8th Primary Election ;
  • Co-sponsored an informational event about how to get involved in San Diego Boards and Commissions;
  • Launched our “Empower Action News” blog/email service to inform interested residents about opportunities for participation in San Diego decision-making and policy;
